Max Cooper MD

Maxwell I Cooper MD

Director, Emergency Ultrasound Division, Crozer Chester Health System

Dr. Max Cooper, a resident of Nether Providence, Pennsylvania, has been committed to public service throughout his life, personally and professionally.

An Emergency physician, Max joined the US Navy and served during the Afghanistan conflict. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal.

Since returning home, Max has worked in EDs across Delco, which provides him a window into the obstacles that many of our neighbors face. Max understands it doesn’t need to be this way and that we all deserve better. These experiences are the foundation of Max’s ongoing public service

In 2019 Max was elected to his Township’s Board. Sworn in, just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and as the only doctor on the board, he was asked to coordinate the Township’s response. He reviewed local operations and helped maintain their critical services during the worst of the pandemic, while preventing widespread staff illness.

Max’s advocacy includes co-founding Committee to Protect Healthcare, where he serves as its Pennsylvania lead and one of its original board members. This national organization fights to protect reproductive rights, make prescription drugs more affordable, and enact state-based public health insurance options. Max’s advocacy on the national level is built on his direct experiences serving the residents of Delaware County.

Max is a proud graduate of Brandeis University, where he studied Biology and Politics, as well as Jefferson Medical College, where he completed his medical doctorate. Max and his wife Nicole are the parents of two little boys: Teddy and Nate.
